A digital scale has a basic load cell system inside. This system consists of a 4 wire load cell connected to a cell monitor. The monitor supplies a voltage called the excitation voltage to the load cell and the load cell returns a mill volt (mV) signal back
to the monitor. The mV signal changes with the load experienced by the load cell and this mV signal is used to determine the display value on the monitor.

1) Weight is applied to measuring surface

2) Load cell flexes as weight is applied

3) Sensing elements measure the stress to the load cell

4) An analog signal is sent to the display.
